Specifications
Electrical characteristics
| Total continuous-current rating | 500 A, both inputs sharing the load |
| Continuous current (per power output) | 125 A |
| Supported batteries | 6S–13S LiPo |
| Operating battery voltage | 21.0–54.6 V |
| Inputs | Two, combined for hot-swap |
The 500 A figure is the combined rating with both batteries connected and sharing the load. While one battery is disconnected, the whole current passes through the remaining input, so reduce the load before a swap — see Replacing a battery. Current capability also depends on conductors, connectors, airflow and cooling; confirm the thermal performance in the final installation.
The 21.0 V lower limit is a 6S pack at 3.5 V per cell, the practical operating floor. Battery voltage sags under load, so size the installation with margin above the limit required by every connected rail.
Power the board from a battery within the supported range. A bench supply, smoke stopper or current limiter that folds back or collapses the input to 0 V is not a suitable source. A fully charged 14S pack reaches 58.8 V and exceeds the supported input range; the largest supported pack is 13S (54.6 V fully charged).
Regulated power outputs
| Rail | Converter rating | Supported batteries |
|---|---|---|
| 5 V | Up to 3 A | 6S–13S |
| 12 V | Up to 3 A | 6S–13S |
| 15 V | Up to 3 A | 8S–13S |
Each rail has several physical connection pads, and the listed current is shared by every connector on that rail.
The main power path, battery OR-ing, current sensing, telemetry, 5 V output and 12 V output operate throughout the supported 6S–13S range. The 15 V converter does not: use 8S–13S whenever a load is connected to the 15 V pads.
Do not rely on the 15 V output with a 6S or 7S battery. On 7S it can start while the pack is full and switch off before the pack is discharged.
Features
- Battery hot-swap — ideal-diode controllers combine the two inputs and keep one battery from feeding into the other, so the remaining battery maintains the output
- Heavy-duty 8-layer PCB, 2.2 mm thick — 3 oz outer and 4 oz inner copper, on TG170 laminate
- TVS diodes on the battery inputs and the common output rail
- Input current sensing
- Reverse polarity protection
- Shielded data lines isolated by ground planes
